I talk about people-first leadership because I've seen what happens when leaders are forced to choose between results and their people's dignity. That tradeoff is a false one.
I've spent my career at the center of high-pressure leadership and systemic change, from municipal government and homelessness response to regulatory services and free democratic elections. I know how easily talented leaders get trapped in reactive firefighting, because I've led through it.
